Instead of using music from others, i decided to create my own music. In the first place to save time during my content creation workflow, but also for fun!

There’s a music channel and Spotify page
This music adventure is performed under the name BitFrequencies, where AI-driven music meets electronic and instrumental soundscapes. I publish unique, AI-generated music, specifically crafted for the (tutorial) videos i also make. Now i’m able to have a diverse and dynamic music library, giving me complete control over the soundtracks of my projects.

Perfect for learning, focus, relaxation, and inspiration. But also other types of music will be published on the BitFrequencies channel. Are you listening with me?

Also other types of music will be there
The channel explores the evolving world of music, blending ambient, Lo-Fi, SynthWave, and other futuristic electronic beats—perfect for learning, focus, relaxation, and inspiration. But also other types of music will be published on the BitFrequencies channel. Are you listening with me?

By designing and 3D printing this wallet, i found my best settings to print TPU-95 filament! After tweaking, these settings serve as a good foundation for my future flexible 3D prints.

In the realm of 3D printing, enthusiasts and professionals alike are constantly seeking materials that offer both durability and flexibility to bring their creations to life. Among the plethora of options available, Thermoplastic Polyurethane (TPU) filament has emerged as a game-changer, revolutionizing the way we approach 3D printing projects.

TPU is a type of elastomer that combines the advantages of plastic and rubber, making it exceptionally flexible, durable, and resistant to abrasion. Its unique properties make it an ideal choice for a wide range of applications, including prototyping, functional parts, prosthetics, and even fashion accessories.

Only the first six layers were printed at a lower speed than the rest on top. This to get a solid start with good adhesion to the print bed.

The video below shows which print settings i used to print a wallet. I show two 3D printed wallets together with these settings. In a nutshell: only the first six layers were printed at a lower speed than the rest on top. This to get a solid start with good adhesion to the print bed. After these layers, everything was printed at a higher speed with a little more filament flow to speed up the process.

How to 3D print TPU filament?

My absolute favorite flexible filament for my current printer is TPU-95 from PolyMaker. If you are interested in this flexible filament, you can buy PolyMaker PolyFlex™ on eBay. Do you want to know more? Then check out my YouTube channel about 3D printing. By clicking the button below, you can subscribe directly. Thank you!

STEP and STL files are very common file formats when it comes to digital file exchange in the CAD and 3D printing  world. It’s possible to convert STL files to STEP files in FreeCAD.

You may have an STL file that you want to use as a STEP file somewhere. Here’s what to do. First you have to drag the STL file(s) inside your empty FreeCAD window or open it from within the software (without a document open). Then all you have to do is taking a few steps to export it as a STEP file.

The color added to the STL file, will also be saved within the STEP file.

The video below shows how you can change an STL file to a STEP file. The Part workbench is used for this. If you just want to read how to do this, continue reading below the video.

How to convert an STL file to a STEP file in FreeCAD

After importing an STL file, the first thing you have to do is ‘Create shape from mesh’. You can find it in the ‘Part’ tab of the Part workbench. After that you have to convert that new shape into a solid. This feature is also inside the ‘Part’ tab as ‘Convert to solid’. After each step, delete the old version of the model to make sure you end up with a suitable solid 3D model. Then you can export that solid to a STEP file with colors. Then the color added to the STL file, will also be saved within the STEP file.

The past few years i’m creating my own 3D printable designs. But since 2023, i wanted to do this at a next level. You can read more details about this here!

My older designs are more simplistic and also the pictures i made from them are pretty basic. But from 2023, i want to create good looking 3D printable products that can make everyone’s life easier.

So that means every product has to be very useful for almost anyone. Tray’s, stackable crates and that kind of things are really my thing to design. I also use a photo box to make pictures of my 3D designs. You can buy a Puluz Photo Box at eBay or AliExpress though my affiliate links when you like to support what i do. At least if you also want to photograph products ; -).

Another way to support my work is to join my Patreon. You can just support me, but you can also get access to my 3D models with the Access To My 3D Files (Also On Request) tier. By being an active member of my Patreon, you get a commercial license for all the 3D models i made. You have permission to download, use and alter my 3D files. These are 3D print designs and (more simple) FreeCAD models i used in my videos.

You are not allowed to sell and distibute the digital files. But you have persmission to sell physical 3D prints that are made from my files (also remixed). Other usage is for personal use only. Your commercial license expires when you cancel your Patreon membership.

There’s a rail and three holders where you can put in your drinks. The holders can be pushed on the rail. The longer the rail, the more drinks you can serve at once!

Below you can watch my video about a 3D printed serving tray i designed and use myself. There’s a rail and three holders where you can put in your drinks. The holders can be pushed on the rail. The longer the rail, the more drinks you can serve at once!

Like ironing clothes, ironing for 3D printing involves using heat to smooth out a surface. This is achieved on a 3D printer by moving the nozzle back and forth over the top layer.

Some 3D prints may need a perfect top layer to add a better look to it. Then the ironing feature can come in handy. You can enable this feature in your slicer, like Simplify3D or Cura.

The ironing feature is most suitable for flat objects, like nameplates for example. Note that it takes more time to finish a 3D print when you use this feature.

You may think, i always want that! But that’s not recommended. When you 3D print curved models, it has no point to turn the ironing feature on. The ironing feature is most suitable for flat objects, like nameplates for example. Note that it takes more time to finish a 3D print when you use this feature.

How an ironed surface can look like

So ironing is a nice feature when it comes to flat objects, like nameplates. But for a lot of models, it only takes a lot of time with not much result. Want to know more? Then check out my YouTube channel about 3D printing by clicking the button below. Thank you!

A STEP file (.stp) is a very common file format when it comes to digital file exchange in the CAD world. It’s possible to import and edit STEP files online. You can do this with the free CAD software called FreeCAD.

When you have a STEP file ready to use, you can just drag it inside your empty FreeCAD window or open it from within the software with the import feature. Then create a new document first, click ‘File’ and then ‘Import’ and select the STEP file.

FreeCAD is a great tool to import and edit STEP files. When using this free CAD software, importing STEP files is one of its great features.

Below you can watch my video about editing a STEP file in FreeCAD. In this video, the Part Design and Sketcher workbench were used to add pins and cut holes from a sketch that was added to the original STEP model.

How to edit a STEP file in FreeCAD

You can use the features that are available in the workbenches of FreeCAD. So after creating a sketch you can use that sketch to cut out parts with the Pocket feature. But also the Pad feature can be used to extrude. So FreeCAD is a great tool to import and edit STEP files. When using this free CAD software, importing STEP files is one of its great features.
